Welcome to Liberty Middle School, home of the Lions!  When thinking about the middle school years, Growth is the word that best describes this time in students’ lives.  From the time students transfer from elementary to when they leave us for high school, they undergo an amazing transformation.  Physically, they double in size.  Socially and emotionally, they go through a roller coaster of ups and downs.  Academically they develop into critical-thinking young adults.  Helping guide students through all of this growth is what we are passionate about.  All students enter middle school and different places in their development, and they will leave us in different places.  Along the way, we focus on growth for each student regardless of the abilities they arrive with.

At Liberty, we know that students with a strong sense of belonging at school will experience the most growth.  We want students to feel a sense of belonging in the classroom, with their peers and teachers, and throughout every space and interaction during their day.  Outside of the classroom, we have many opportunities to get involved with academic and non-academic clubs, intramurals, and numerous sports.  There is an opportunity for every kid, and if there is no club that fits a student, they can start one!

Liberty (along with our middle school partners across town at Skyridge) was one of only two middle schools to be awarded the Washington Achievement Award each year the award was given (2009 through 2016).  According to the Washington Achievement Index, this highly selective award is based on our school’s performance. This award recognizes the top 5 percent of all schools across the state using a two-year average according to the rigorous Washington Achievement index. This is an extraordinary accomplishment and directly reflects our student’s hard work, our teachers’ dedication, and the support and guidance of our parents and Camas community.

At Liberty, each grade level follows its own schedule which means that each student only has classes and lunch with other kids from their grade.  Additionally, students are separated into teams which helps students develop a strong classroom culture.  This also allows teachers to collaborate on how best to meet their students’ individual needs.

At Liberty, we work to foster a community where every student can strive to show their Lion’s P.R.I.D.E. by being a Positive Respectful Individual Demonstrating Excellence.  Each student has so much potential, and we look forward to the challenge of helping each student reach theirs.

 Go Lions!
