How to Get Involved

Volunteering at School
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Camas School District. Our amazing staff is always looking for ways to enrich young minds and hearts, and the community is one of our best resources! To volunteer at any CSD school, you must first submit a Volunteer Application. An approved application is good for two years.
The CSD volunteer application system is integrated with our job application system, as volunteers apply to be “hired” through the CSD system. To apply or renew for a volunteer position, select Volunteer under Vacancies, then choose Apply. If you are new to the online volunteer or job application system, you will need to create an account first. To complete the volunteer application, be sure to select Finish and Submit. Once your application is complete, it typically takes 3–5 business days to process and approve, though it may take up to 7 business days in some cases.
Classroom Support
There are many ways to get involved at your child’s school. Speak with your child’s teacher about how you can support the classroom. Chances are, there are several ways to participate through direct student involvement or by prepping supplies, either in the workroom or at home. Keep in mind that as your child progresses through school, generally, less parent involvement is needed.
For more information about pitching in, see our Volunteer and Visitors Brochure.
Parent Groups
Another great way to get involved is through parent groups at your school. At the elementary and middle school levels, these organizations are Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) or Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs), and at the high school level, groups range from “booster” clubs that enhance an existing student group or team to task-oriented forces focused on a specific event, such as the Camas High School All-Night Party. Whatever the group, the goal of these parents, guardians, and community members is the same: to assist students, staff, and schools in delivering exceptional educational experiences and making memories that last a lifetime.
For more information about parent groups, please visit your school’s website or contact the front office.
Internship Partners
Thanks to partnerships with local businesses, our high school students have the opportunity to learn in workplace environments through hands-on experiences that test their knowledge and strengthen their skills.
We are always looking for ways to make connections with these tremendous community partners and welcome your ideas for extending workplace learning to Camas students. To find out more about becoming an internship partner, please contact Email Derek Jaques or 360-335-3000 ext. 77154.
Citizens Advisory Council (CAC)
Each fall, Camas School District seeks volunteers to serve on its Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC consists of 18–25 school district patrons who advise school administrators and board members on various issues. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month during the school year from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Each committee member’s term lasts three years and may include participation in subcommittees focused on specific areas, such as Technology or Health and Nutrition.
Applications for appointments to the CAC are made online. The application window opens in mid-September. Recommendations for appointments will be forwarded to the school board for consideration at the October board meeting.
CAC meetings are open to the public. All Camas patrons are invited to attend.
